The white shawl 999 seconds

This work was shown at the exhibition 999 seconds in Rotterdam, 2018, and was created in a time frame of 999 seconds. It is inspired by how children aged 5 to 9 make drawings and paintings. After about 15 minutes, the child often announces they’re DONE! The outcome is exactly what it is and the young maker is not concerned with whether it is good enough or whether something is still missing. As an adult it is difficult to maintain this accurate purity, so devoid of inhibition. Picasso once said: “It took me a lifetime to paint like a child again”.
The printing process is in collaboration with master printer Bernard Ruijgrok.
